Rules and Instructions for Bidding on Steiner Auctions

AUCTION REGISTRATION:
You only need to register once in order to bid on any auction.  If you have not registered with Steiner Auctions before, please visit steinerauctions.com and click on the "Register" button on the top right hand corner, it only takes a few minutes to register.  Upon registering, you will receive an email confirming your registration and at that point you will be ready to bid on all live auctions.

In order to bid on any auction you must be logged into your account and have a valid and up to date credit card on file.  Click on the “My Account” button on top right hand side in order to log in and start bidding. If you can’t recall your user name and or password click on “Forgot Bidder Id or Forgot Password”.  Keep your user name and password in a safe place for future reference, as this will remain your login and password for all future Steiner Auctions.

AUTHENTICATION:
Every signed or game used item for auction includes either a Steiner Sports Certificate of Authenticity or authenticity from a Third Party (JSA, PSA/DNA, Mounted Memories, Upper Deck, MEARS, etc.) unless otherwise noted.

MINIMUM BID INCREASE:
Any lot from $1-$499 will have a twenty percent (20%) minimum increase, in whole dollar amounts. Any lot from $500-infinity will have a ten percent (10%) minimum increase, in whole dollar amounts.

BUYER'S PREMIUM:
Bid prices are also referred to as hammer prices. A Buyers premium is added to the hammer price.  The buyers premium for the Auction is 20% if payment is made by bank certified check, cashiers check or wire transfer within 7 days of date of invoice.  The buyers premium for the auction is 22.5% or $10, whichever is greater if paid by credit card. All bidders must pay buyer’s premiums, no exceptions. For example if the winning bid is $40 the actual total is $50.

PAYMENT:
Credit cards are the preferred method of payment for any invoice below $10,000. For anything above $10,000 we require a bank certified check, cashiers check or wire transfer. If paying with bank certified check, cashiers check or wire, please contact us at 914-307-1058 and speak with a Steiner Auctions coordinator.  Steiner Auctions only accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover for credit card payment.
Special arrangements can be made prior to auction close to accept credit card charges in excess of $10,000.

RESERVES:

The majority of lots listed for sale will not have a reserve listed on the item. However, if a reserve is listed we make sure that the reserve is a fair and realistic price based on the market value. The seller does have the right to remove the reserve at any time if the bidding gets close enough to their reserve price. If a bid is placed below the reserve and the reserve is lifted the high bidder will be rewarded the item.

OUTBID NOTIFICATION:

An Outbid notification is sent to a registered user when another user has outbid (placed a higher maximum or straight bid) and the registered user is no longer the current high bidder. You may also receive an outbid notification immediately after placing a bid on an item if the registered user who had placed a bid earlier, is equal or greater than your bid.  In the event a maximum or straight bid is placed and is equal to the current high bid, the earlier bid gets priority if the more recent bid is equal to the previously placed bid.

RETURN POLICY:
ALL LOTS ARE SOLD AS IS. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. NO RETURNS.

FRAMES INCLUDED WITH LOTS:
While we make every effort to protect the frames included with these lots during pre-auction storage and post auction shipping, we are not responsible for any damage to the frames themselves, and no refunds will be given due to frame damage. Not all framed photos in auctions are framed by Steiner Auctions and we cannot guarantee the type of matting used, the style of mounting (whether it was dry mounted or other), nor other factors during the framing process unless specifically noted in the description. If items are removed from frames(or not) and determined they were not framed in a manner desirable, Steiner Auctions is not responsible for the framing or the items, as many of these are consignments that may have been framed 10 – 20 years prior (if not more) to receipt. We do not accept returns on framed memorabilia that is purchased in auction for any of these reasons.

CASES AND FRAMING:

Please note that unless stated in the lot title or description cases and framing are NOT INCLUDED with auction orders. If you win an item that does not include cases or frame you can add it for an additional cost by contacting the auction department at 914-307-1058 or via email at auction@steinersports.com.

RESULTS/INVOICE:

Auction results will be posted on steinerauctions.com soon after the conclusion of the auction or you can view them if you’re the winning bidder by logging into your account. Prices posted will include the 22.5% buyer’s premium.

Winners will receive their invoice within 24 hours of the auction ending. Once invoice is received you will have 5 days to complete payment. WE WILL NOT automatically charge your credit card within this time period. At the end of 5 days, credit cards on file will be automatically charged for any invoice not paid within the allotted 5 days, unless you have made prior arrangements with a Steiner Auctions coordinator.

SALES TAX:
All State of New York residents must pay sales tax. In New York State there are different sales tax rates that will be determined by shipping zip code.

SHIPPING:
Items will usually ship within 3-5 days after payment is received.  The buyer is responsible for all shipping, freight, crating and insurance costs. The estimated shipping cost is $14.99 but the actual shipping cost may be more. We will do our best to combine shipping on orders with multiple items. There may be additional shipping charges based on size, weight, amount of items won and cost of the product won. If multiple auctions end during the same week we will NOT combine shipping on orders from multiple auctions.

15 MINUTE RULE DEFINITION:

The 15 minute rule means that starting at 10:30 PM EST on the last day of the auction (or whatever time the auction is scheduled to conclude), the auction will close only if no bids are placed on any item within 15 minutes prior to the closing time.  If no bids are placed during that 15 minute span of time on any auction items, the entire auction will close.  If, however, a bid is placed within that time span on any auction item, the entire auction will stay open for another 15 minutes. This process will stay in effect until no bids are placed within a 15 minute time span on any auction item.  The auction will close once no bids are received for a period of 15 minutes.  If the auction is open past 2am EST we reserve the right to close it at any time.  All lots are open even if no bids on your lot(s) have occurred in past 15 minutes, they are open until auction closes.

CANCELLING BIDS/FAILURE TO PAY FOR AN ITEM:

When you bid on and then potentially win a lot in auction, you enter into a binding contract with Steiner Auctions. Bids cannot be deleted once they are made. If you are the winning bidder of an auction lot(s), payment is mandatory on that item(s). Failure to pay for an item(s) can result in being banned from bidding in future Steiner Auctions. Under certain circumstances legal action may be required. If payment is not received within the timeframe prescribed above, it may result in forfeiture of the item(s).
